Jeff grew up in Northwest Oklahoma, where he was active in farming and ranching activities, owned and managed a full service automotive service station, was a volunteer fire fighter and emergency medical technician. Jeff also owned and operated one of the area’s premier mobile disc jockey companies and attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, OK.

In July of 1982, while attending Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK, Jeff began his scuba diving career with his PADI Open Water Diver certification at Lake Tenkiller, Oklahoma.  Although he didn’t realize at the time it was to become a career.

In May of 1988, after several years of school, working and inland lake diving, Jeff moved to Wichita, Kansas to work for Cessna Aircraft Company.  While working at Cessna and operating his mobile DJ business, scuba got put on hold.

In September of 1997, Jeff earned his PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification from Pro Ski & Scuba. While working on his advanced certification and helping with a friend’s Open Water class, Jeff realized that he really enjoyed working with and teaching people.

In September of 1998, Jeff completed his PADI Rescue Diver certification.  In October of 2001, Jeff worked his way through five PADI Specialty Courses, (Dry Suit, Enriched Air/Nitrox, Equipment Specialist, Night & Underwater Photographer) to earn his PADI Master Scuba Diver certification.  Jeff continued to advance his diving skills with more PADI Specialty Courses. The rest of the list includes: Boat, Deep, Diver Propulsion Vehicle, Drift, Multi-Level Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Navigation and Wreck Diver specialties.

In April of 2002, Jeff was awarded the PADI Divemaster certification, his entry into the fellowship of PADI Dive Professionals. Jeff’s career as a PADI Dive Professional was officially launched. In June of 2002, Jeff moved up the PADI Professional ladder again by being awarded the PADI Assistant Instructor certification.

In December 2002, Jeff completed his Instructor Examination in Nacogdoches, Texas and was awarded the prestigious PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor certification.

As a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, Jeff has earned the privilege to teach PADI Specialty Courses and in February of 2003, Jeff was awarded the PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer certification.

Expanding his experience level, Jeff can now teach PADI AWARE Coral Reef Conservation, Project AWARE Specialty Program, Boat Diver, Deep Diver, Diver Propulsion Vehicle Diver, Drift Diver, Dry Suit Diver, Enriched Air Diver, Equipment Specialist, Night Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Search & Recovery Diver, Underwater Navigator, Underwater Photographer and Wreck Diver Specialty Courses and is an Emergency First Responder Instructor.

Continuing to advance his learning, in May of 2004, Jeff graduated from Friends University in Wichita, Kansas with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems. In November of 2004, on a trip aboard Pro Ski & Scuba’s 37-foot Island Spirit catamaran “Scubacat” in the British Virgin Islands, Jeff completed the training requirements and was awarded the PADI IDC Staff Instructor certification.

Jeff’s passion for diving and excitement to teach others about the wonderful world down under has carried him toward making his dream come true. Jeff is one of the instructors working with Pro Ski & Scuba, the PADI 5-Star Instructor Development Center that really got him excited and involved with the 70 plus percent of our world that is underwater and the medium that allows us to experience it, scuba diving.

In September 2006, Jeff completed all the necessary requirements to be awarded the highest professional level achievement short of becoming a PADI Course Director, the prestigious PADI  MASTER INSTRUCTOR certification.

Come experience this wonderful adventure of scuba diving with Jeff Kelsey and the entire staff of Pro Ski and Scuba. We’ll dive you crazy.
