Jeff grew up in Northwest Oklahoma, where he was active
in farming and ranching activities, owned and managed a
full service automotive service station, was a volunteer
fire fighter and emergency medical technician. Jeff also
owned and operated one of the area’s premier mobile disc
jockey companies and attended Northwestern Oklahoma
State University in Alva, OK.
In
July of 1982, while attending Spartan School of
Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK, Jeff began his scuba diving
career with his PADI Open Water Diver certification at
Lake Tenkiller, Oklahoma. Although he didn’t realize at
the time it was to become a career.
In
May of 1988, after several years of school, working and
inland lake diving, Jeff moved to Wichita, Kansas to
work for Cessna Aircraft Company. While working at
Cessna and operating his mobile DJ business, scuba got
put on hold.
In
September of 1997, Jeff earned his PADI Advanced Open
Water Diver certification from Pro Ski & Scuba. While
working on his advanced certification and helping with a
friend’s Open Water class, Jeff realized that he really
enjoyed working with and teaching people.
In
September of 1998, Jeff completed his PADI Rescue Diver
certification. In October of 2001, Jeff worked his way
through five PADI Specialty Courses, (Dry Suit, Enriched
Air/Nitrox, Equipment Specialist, Night & Underwater
Photographer) to earn his PADI Master Scuba Diver
certification. Jeff continued to advance his
diving skills with more PADI Specialty Courses. The rest
of the list includes: Boat, Deep, Diver Propulsion
Vehicle, Drift, Multi-Level Diver, Peak Performance
Buoyancy, Underwater Navigation and Wreck Diver
specialties.
In
April of 2002, Jeff was awarded the PADI Divemaster
certification, his entry into the fellowship of PADI
Dive Professionals. Jeff’s career as a PADI Dive
Professional was officially launched. In June of 2002,
Jeff moved up the PADI Professional ladder again by
being awarded the PADI Assistant Instructor
certification.
In
December 2002, Jeff completed his Instructor Examination
in Nacogdoches, Texas and was awarded the prestigious
PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor certification.
As
a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, Jeff has earned the
privilege to teach PADI Specialty Courses and in
February of 2003, Jeff was awarded the PADI Master Scuba
Diver Trainer certification.
Expanding his experience level, Jeff can now teach PADI
AWARE Coral Reef Conservation, Project AWARE Specialty
Program, Boat Diver, Deep Diver, Diver Propulsion
Vehicle Diver, Drift Diver, Dry Suit Diver, Enriched Air
Diver, Equipment Specialist, Night Diver, Peak
Performance Buoyancy, Search & Recovery Diver,
Underwater Navigator, Underwater Photographer and Wreck
Diver Specialty Courses and is an Emergency First
Responder Instructor.
Continuing to advance his learning, in May of 2004, Jeff
graduated from Friends University in Wichita, Kansas
with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer
Information Systems. In November of 2004, on a trip
aboard Pro Ski & Scuba’s 37-foot Island Spirit catamaran
“Scubacat” in the British Virgin Islands, Jeff completed
the training requirements and was awarded the PADI IDC
Staff Instructor certification.
Jeff’s passion for diving and excitement to teach others
about the wonderful world down under has carried him
toward making his dream come true. Jeff is one of the
instructors working with Pro Ski & Scuba, the PADI
5-Star Instructor Development Center that really got him
excited and involved with the 70 plus percent of our
world that is underwater and the medium that allows us
to experience it, scuba diving.
In
September 2006, Jeff completed all the necessary
requirements to be awarded the highest professional
level achievement short of becoming a PADI Course
Director, the prestigious PADI MASTER INSTRUCTOR
certification.
